Me - the instructor
From the age of about 14 it would seem I have been teaching one thing or another. At first it was group and private music lessons to junior students at the studio where I myself was a student - and I was hooked!
Next at age 15 I started teaching Sunday school to younger children.
When I had graduated from high school I got a part time job teaching more even more classes and took my first formal training - the Yamaha method - and I continued teaching until just before my first child was born a couple of years later.
Teaching took a break until one day when my children's small private school was looking for a part time music teacher and I was blessed to land that job. In time, after taking computer courses, I also taught computers - both the software and hardware aspects.
Several years later the school decided to drop the high school and with it went most of my job - so it was finally my turn to get some formal education - and I went back to school and became a registered cardiology technologist - a job which allowed me to combine two of my skills - interacting with the public and technology.
Shortly after I graduated I was asked to put my computer skills to work and I helped design an online version of one of the cardiology courses for the school - and then I was asked to teach that course which is what I have been doing since.
In July of 2011 I took the offered instructors skills workshop (which is one of the PIDP courses) and decided to jump in with both feet.
My current educational goals are to complete the PIDP and in time get my bachelor's in Adult Education from UFV. Beyond that - I have no for sure plan and we will see where life has me - but I could see myself going for a master's or maybe more as not only do I love teaching - but I love learning.
On a more personal level - I am a mom to 3 grown children and 2 fur babies... I am married to the best man in the world who is also my best friend.
I live in Abbotsford and work full time as a cardiology technologist in Surrey.
